money mini games (please add your own in replies):
- “goal income”: - track how much money you currently spend per month (wouldn’t harm you to do it in a spreadsheet) - imagine what you’re currently not spending on but you’d like to. - add 20% on top for savings and investments. - add 25-50% on top for taxes = that’s your goal income, the basic amount of money you wanna be conjuring up every month. against this you can measure your money making plans and activities. 2) “hourly wage”: - think of your goal income. - divide it by 4x40=160 (4 weeks a 40 hours) - that’s your hourly wage based on 40 hours of work - now think of how much you want to work per week… - … and if you’re a freelancer consider admin overhead vs billable hours - come up with the new “employable” or “billable” number of hours - divide your goal income by that = now you have the hourly wage you’re gunning for. is it high? good, now you have to create value 3) “counting up the value (tangible)” credit
: - think of a job you once had - think of how much you made in that job per month pre tax (that’s your “price”) - now think of how much you made your employer - e.g. you work at starbucks, how much do they make per beverage? (ask chatgpt for estimates) ok and how many bevs did you sell a day? multiply - and now multiply by 30 (days a month), and by how many months you worked there - you’re likely getting a much higher number than you were being paid (pre tax) - now add some % on top based on how much you brought to the table on metrics like: punctual, easy to manage, reliable, rizz and other secret sauce. those things are worth A LOT to an employer = value. = you now have the value you created during your employment. understanding your value gives you a great leg up in negotiations. PS: this gets harder the more impactful your job is — don’t shy away from counting up the value anyways! e.g. during my tenure at Twitch I created a thriving market for livestreaming in Germany. what’s the value here? I know I took part in paving the way for creators making millions of EUR, not just in Germany but in all of Europe. the same for advertisers! I counted up the value and estimated USD 600k during this time. no clue if I’m right but it’s a good exercise! PPS: think about other times you engaged in trades that created value and add them to the list! 4) “counting up the value (intangible)” - play counting up the value but do it with people you helped on your path - maybe you gave advice, maybe someone credits you with turning their life around - you’ll notice the value being more like stored potential - so imagine these people you know you had a positive impact on becoming very rich (let’s say in the 9 figures) - now imagine going to them, knowing that they’re very well off and generous, and saying “remember when I helped you with xyz? I don’t wanna be weird but I’d love to get paid for that” - how much could you ask for without feeling over the top? go high first and if it feels too much go lower. don’t start from low. = you’re now estimating intangible value you created, which is difficult, but it’s better than never counting it. 5) “money meditation” credit
: - in a group, set a timer to 10-15 minutes. keep it short - come together in pairs, sit face to face - meditate quietly for 1-2 minutes to regulate your nervous system - now establish eye contact and do not break it for the rest of the exercise (that’s eye gazing, keeps you very present and away from thinking, you’re more connected to your feelings) - take turns saying what you’re grateful for, in the realm of money and resources. if one of you doesn’t seem to be saying something, the same person can go 2 or 3 times, within reason - keep doing this until the timer runs out - come together in the group and enjoy the very productive conversation you’re likely to have now = you’re now incredibly in touch with your existing wealth, and future wealth feels like it’s knocking on an open, familiar door. PS: we did this at a retreat and in the coming 2-3 days everyone always announced when they received money, and a loooot of people received money. it was magical. 6) “ordering money” credit Sarah McCrum: - think of an amount of money you need, earnestly. say by when you need that amount. - meditate on that amount and on the timeframe. - ask for this money from whichever god / universe / energy you believe in. you can pray to money itself if you like - “burn the paper”, i.e. don’t cling to the wish but let it go away from you fully - now spend the following days looking for how that money may reach you. anyone owe you something? anyone need something from you for which you could ask something in return? maybe a tax return, maybe you can sell something on ebay? can you just ask someone for money? can you up your game in your business? - clear all the channels on which this money may reach you = it may very well reach you within the time frame … ? what other money mini games do you know? feel free to use and spread these games liberally.
